Some observations on FlashFire09d:
1) The status bar shows the amount of the buffer is used. Very informative.
2) During ATTO test, 3 to 4 bars appear. This would shows intensive write to SSD will use 75-100% of the buffer.
3) During internet browsing, one bar or none appears. This shows that very little write to SSD is required because I use RamDisk technique for the browser temp files.
4) ATTO test shows this 09d version is slightly slower (say 2-4%?) than the 09c version. But there is practically no difference in actual usage.
5) Apparently the older 09c requires less computing resource. So I would still keep the 09c version for my HP mini 1030 and only use the newer 09d version for my Toshiba M70.

That is true.

ffcntl.exe of 09d version polls the status of FlashFire on every 400ms.
(If you do not execute ffcntl.exe, there will be no overhead.)

I will modify the interval to 1 second in later version.

Hey

Nice work.

I have a Q..

While the data in the buffer, and before committing, is it readable from the buffer or the filter have to write its contents to the storage media before, to allow read process ? Is the buffer or Cache, a write only space or also readable ?

Thanks a lot in advanced.

Just loaded version 0.9d on Acer One with 1GB RAM and 16GB SSD. Seems to work as claimed and certainly makes XP a usable OS on the machine. :)

FlashFire allows to read the content of write buffer.

So don't think it is necessary to do any modification.
If you do, would suggest to find a prime no for the ms between 400 and 1000.

Is there any special reason for the prime number?

I don't have any solid reason. Just my thought.
A random number will mostly likely produce white noise.
A fixed number will produce a certain colour noise which may strongly affect a certain time sensitive application.
The fixed number (beside the random number) to have the least effect on time sensitive application could be the prime number.

Thanks a lot Zartto.

-When you put the mouse over the tray icon .. it says "FlasFire.."
-Adding [enable / disable] tray icon animation (polling) ?
