Oh sorry,

-1st one is a bug; When I hover the mouse over FlashFire icon on the tray, the balloon tooltip shows [ flasfire enabled ] instead of [ flashfire enabled ]
-the second one yea is just a request.. to let the user enable or disable animation (pulling data) to safe some CPU power..

:!: I got it!.

For the disabling animation, I my opinion, you can just exit ffcntl.exe program.
You can execute it when you want to enable or disable FlashFire... and I think.. it must be not often..

Thank you !! I'll correct typo!

The run time for calculating 1M digits of Pi by HP mini 1030nr.

With FlashFire09c enable : 3m 43s
With FlashFire09c disable : 3m 36s

This test shows that about 3.2% of the computer overhead is required for the FlashFire09c.

Next same test on Toshiba M70:
With FlashFire09d enable : 2m 24s
With FlashFire09d disable : 2m 23s

This test shows that about 0.7% of the computer overhead is required for the FlashFire09d.

The software for calculating Pi is as attached.

Zartto,

EDIT: After writing the entry I have made more tests and I have not been able to reproduce the problem, that has been present since I installed 0.9d in almost every system start. Anyway, in the tests I have done now I have only started-up windows and closed or restarting several times (with no additional program usage (so with on additional disk access). I am not sure if the problem has solved by itself or if it its Murphy's law :D. I will keep you informed if the problem appears again.

I installed 0.9d and since then I have a "small problem".

When I start-up windows, the disk scan is requested almost everytime.
(As known, with ff enabled the scandisk does not work)
Then, I disable ff, restart and scandisk is run fine, as expected.

The issue itself:
- Indeed, there is no file system corruption, since scandisk finds no errors.
- After successful scandisk, if I restart again without activating ff, then scandisk is not requested, so it is supposed that scandisk is performed OK.
- The problem happens almost every startup when ff is enabled.

My conclusion: when closing windows, ff stores all information in the file system, but windows in some-way thinks not all information has been stored and request a scandisk in the next windows start-up.

Note: I did not install other previous 0.9 beta, so I cannot tell you if the problem I explain also happened with those versions.

Note: It did not happen on flashfire 0.99 or in flashpoint.

Ramon

Ramon,

Are you using any special application in your system?
(Did I ask it before?)

Sorry, but, if chkdisk problem occurs every time with FlashFire in your system...
It is a good chance to find out what is a problem.

I hope to know, the setting of yours. (as detail as possible...)
I am testing my systems with just default settings of Windows XP SP3 (NTFS), and for me... it is hard to see chkdisk problem to me.

Thanks! :D

Hey Zartto

The problem is exist from long time ago, even If I have zero app installed.. See my post here http://zflashfire.blogspot.com/2009/06/flashpoint-beta6-is-uploaded.html..

I test your superb filter with (fresh installed) windows xp, server 2003, also tested on VM (Vmware, VirtualBox) .. them problem is still there ..

For example, I have 2 partitions, C and D (disk 0) . while FlashFire is on and doing [chkdsk /f] (see the /f parameter) on drive (d:) then chkdsk can't complete
the checking.. even on (online mode). also drive (c:) can't complete the process after reboot ..

I hope my English is good enough to send the message correctly :]

Thanks
AziSeven

This one works great with regular HDD in my Acer Aspire One (160GB). ATTO is showing a nice boost for writes below 1MB. Slight read speed loss for larger files in general. Defragmentation process was waaaay faster than usual (using WinXP defragmenter). Tray icon also seems to work fine.

Hi Zartto,

I have some tweaks applied.
After some more tests, now It does not happen every time.
My feeling (it is only a feeling) at this moment is that the problem (mainly) appears when there has been "high" disk activity, like after making some software update.

I only sent the mail in case you made some changes from old versions regarding some optimization that could be the cause to make windows think not everything is written in the disk.

Don't worry for me since now it seems it does not happen everytime and since no disk corruption occurs (althoug scandisk is requested). If I make some additional "discovery" I will tell it to you.
